THE POT LUCK CLUB POP-UP AT THE WALDORF HILTON, LONDON EXTENDS LONDON STAY

Cape Town’s Coolest Restaurant Extends London Residency Until June

South Africa, Cape Town, 11 November 2025; Following an exceptionally popular run, The Waldorf Hilton, London has extended its residency with The Pot Luck Club until 30th June 2026. The celebrated South African restaurant, widely praised for its bold flavours and creative cooking, first took over the hotel’s flagship restaurant, Homage, in August 2025 for a three-month pop-up. Now, Londoners can continue to enjoy a taste of one of South Africa’s most sought-after dining experiences until next summer.

The Pot Luck Club is the brainchild of British-born chef Luke Dale Roberts, one of South Africa’s most celebrated culinary talents. Perched atop Cape Town’s Old Biscuit Mill, the restaurant draws nightly crowds with its eclectic, flavour-driven menu and sweeping skyline views. Centred around Luke’s globally inspired small plates, the menu continues to evolve, offering guests a fresh taste of the season with new winter and festive creations. On the London pop-up menu, highlights include duck samosas subtly spiced with five spice, fallow deer served with a rich mole jus, and guinea fowl complemented by cranberry. To finish, a rooibos-poached quince dessert provides a fragrant and elegant finale. Each dish celebrates the depth of the season and the abundance of fine British produce.

The cocktail programme is just as bold, developed in collaboration with The Waldorf Hilton, London’s very own mixologist. Served in The Wild Monkey bar, the drinks list features house-infused cordials, seasonal ingredients and flavours that echo the energy of the kitchen. Signature cocktails go from the bold Thai Green Curry Martini to sharp but sweet Passion Fruit Sake, or the balanced Raspberry Fig Cooler. The dedicated snacks bar menu, first introduced in August, has been curated by Luke Dale Roberts to complement the cocktails. The bar runs Wednesday – Saturday from 4pm until late.

“We’re delighted to extend The Pot Luck Club’s residency at The Waldorf Hilton, London until June 2026,” says Guy Hilton, General Manager. “The response has been phenomenal, and it’s been exciting to see the restaurant bring such fresh energy to the hotel. This extension means even more guests will have the chance to experience it.”

“We’ve talked about bringing The Pot Luck Club to London for years, and it was always the city that made sense,” says chef Luke Dale Roberts. “As a Brit, it’s so meaningful to have been welcomed back in such a positive way, and it’s been a real pleasure doing this with a London landmark hotel, such as The Waldorf Hilton, London. I feel so lucky to share what we’ve built in Cape Town with a new audience.”

Dinner is served daily from 5pm, with the final sitting at 10pm. Alongside the à la carte offering, guests may choose the convenient Lite prix fixe, ideal for those dining before a performance in the neighbouring Theatreland, or indulge in the full Loaded tasting menu. Whether visiting ahead of a show or staying for the evening, this is one residency not to be missed.

Reservations are essential.

A new rhythm at Morii: Italian warmth, Cape terroir, and the spirit of The Vineyard

[Newlands, Cape Town – 5 November 2025] The Vineyard Hotel, a landmark in Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs, has reimagined its signature restaurant, Morii, with a new culinary direction that embraces the warmth and generosity of Italian dining, expressed through Cape Town’s produce, seasons and sense of place.

The name Morii is drawn from contemporary language rather than Italian, and speaks to the desire to hold onto fleeting, beautiful moments, the kind that make a meal linger in memory. It captures what the restaurant stands for: connection, craft and the quiet joy of good food shared well.

Morii’s refreshed concept brings together everything people love about dining at The Vineyard: honest food, a sense of ease and a feeling of belonging, now expressed through the timeless appeal of Italian cooking that is familiar, soulful, and made for conversation.

A meeting of places and people

“We wanted to create something that feels instinctively right for this space,” says Mike Bassett, Head of Food & Beverage at The Vineyard Hotel. “Italian food has an ease and generosity that resonates with how people want to dine today – unpretentious, seasonal, and full of flavour. This feels like a natural progression, a concept that fits our rhythm and our guests’ appetite for honest, ingredient-led cooking.”

Led by Head Chef Chad Blows and Sous Chef Connor McKibbon, the kitchen operates almost entirely from scratch. Pasta, breads, and charcuterie are made in-house, guided by a focus on honest, seasonal flavours that bridge Cape ingredients and Italian influence.

The new menu offers familiar comfort with a lighter, more expressive touch from a reimagined Caprese to cold-fermented, wood-fired pizzas made with Caputo flour, and a tiramisu that captures everything comforting about the classic.

The art of pairing

The wine list, curated by F&B Operations Manager David Hendricks, brings Italian and Cape wines together in a considered selection that reflects balance, character and craftsmanship, with a shared respect for place and terroir.

The cocktail list centres on the Negroni, offered in regional interpretations that playfully blend Cape craft gins with Italian vermouths and aperitivi. Guests can also explore a short list of handcrafted cocktails and lighter spritzes. To close the meal, the team has curated a selection of classic digestive, including grappa and limoncello.

The space and spirit of Morii

Set within the same light-filled restaurant with views across The Vineyard’s gardens to the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, Morii now feels both familiar and renewed, a calm, refined space that invites relaxed gatherings and unhurried dinners. The refreshed décor echoes this new direction, with soft natural tones, terracotta accents and textures that reflect the surrounding landscape.

“Just as important as the food is how it feels,” says Bassett. “We wanted to bring back that sense of warmth and connection, something that feels effortless but deeply considered. Morii is about slowing down, sharing, and finding joy in good company.”

For The Vineyard Hotel, this evolution is not a reinvention but a return: to flavour, to craft and to a way of dining that feels unmistakably Cape in character, and unmistakably The Vineyard.

True to its name, Morii is about those fleeting, beautiful moments that stay with you long after the meal – simple, generous, and shared.

As Bassett concludes: “It’s Italian in inspiration but grounded here – in our landscape, our people and our love of bringing people together.”

Developed by The Capital Hotel Group, this marks the brand’s first presence in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) and a significant step in its national expansion strategy. More than a new address, The Capital Boardwalk is designed to strengthen the city’s tourism appeal, create jobs and give travellers the freedom to stay longer and live better.

The pool deck and garden will host regular DJ sessions and events, creating a vibrant atmosphere that carries from day to night. Whether guests are networking over sundowners or families are unwinding by the pool, the hotel promises a sense of energy and connection that mirrors the spirit of the city itself.

“Gqeberha has all the ingredients of a rising coastal hub,” adds Wachsberger. “We see enormous potential in the region not just as a tourism destination, but as a community ready to thrive,” says Wachsberger.

Glenfiddich and Aston Martin Celebrate Precision, Performance and Prestige at Club 1959

Johannesburg, 3rd November 2025 – In a night that defined sophistication and style, Glenfiddich, the world’s most awarded single malt Scotch whisky, together with the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One® Team, hosted an exclusive celebration of craftsmanship and innovation at Club 1959, marking the launch of the new Glenfiddich 16 Year Old in South Africa.

Held at Daytona, Africa’s premier destination for luxury automobiles, Club 1959 brought to life the shared philosophy of Glenfiddich and Aston Martin, a meeting of minds that value precision, performance and legacy. Guests were invited to immerse themselves in a space where the artistry of whisky making met the engineering brilliance of modern motoring.

On arrival, guests entered through a Paddock Entrée, receiving bespoke Club 1959 paddock passes before stepping into a world that blended contemporary design, moody lighting, and curated sensory experiences.

Behind the bar, Kurt Schlekter, world-renowned mixologist and the visionary founder, CAUSE|EFFECT Cocktail Kitchen, served up signature cocktails inspired by the collaboration, from the 1959 Spritz, finished with a hand-torched branded orange peel, to a Whisky Old Fashioned theatrically presented with smoking wood chips in a luminous glass.

Gift Makoti, Glenfiddich Brand Ambassador, guided guests through an exclusive tasting of the newly launched Glenfiddich 16 Year Old, a bold expression that pays tribute to the brand’s spirit of experimentation and mastery. The tasting was complemented by a culinary journey curated by Chef Ramsay, whose canapé menu reimagined South African flavours with refined, international flair.

As the evening evolved, DJ Fistaz Mixwell brought the atmosphere to life with a soundscape that balanced sophistication and energy, while guests, dressed in F1-chic elegance, mingled among Aston Martin’s most iconic vehicles and Glenfiddich’s rarest drams.

“Our partnership with Aston Martin is a celebration of artistry and ambition,” said Lifa Bakana, Senior Brand Manager at Edward Snell & Co. “Club 1959 was conceived as a living expression of that ethos, where performance and craft meet to create something extraordinary.”

“The Glenfiddich 16 Year Old embodies the spirit of progress that both brands share,” added Gift Makoti. “From Dufftown’s stills to the sleek design of Aston Martin, every detail reflects a pursuit of perfection.”

Captured through a lens of luxury, Club 1959 offered guests more than an evening of whisky and design, it was a statement of intent from two brands that continue to shape the world of excellence and innovation.
