This is it. We’re slowly being released back into the real world. It’s exciting to meet back up with friends and loved ones after such limited social time. If you want to look your best for the occasion, here’s our post-lockdown grooming guide to prep your face for a great outing.
Get a haircut
Unless you live with a professional hairdresser, book in to get a haircut. Not only will you be supporting local businesses which have been closed for months, but you’ll look more refined and groomed afterwards.
Groom your facial hair
When we were living our best at-home caveman life, our facial hair may have gone awry. If you look after your facial hair rather than get it tamed at the barbers, you can take steps to make sure your beard and brows are looking on point.
Fill in any gaps with the Beard & Brow Filler, and ensure your hairs are smoothed down and pointing in the same direction using the Beard and Brow Gel. You’ll immediately look more put together.
Prepare your skin
If you look after your skin, you will notice a difference. You’ll help to prevent signs of skin ageing, and any makeup you apply afterwards will go on much smoother, and last longer. Skincare doesn’t need to be complicated. There are two main products you can use at a starting point:
Add the finishing touches
You can add makeup into your routine to help you look fresher, more awake and cover any blemishes or scars. The best order to use products is listed below, but you don’t have to follow all the steps if you prefer to keep your grooming regime simple.
FOM and Siya Kolisi’s shared passions for authentic design, South Africa and the upliftment of its communities inspired the new FOM x Kolisi Zwide limited edition black VELLIE. The FOM ‘vellie’ is our unique interpretation of the iconic South African shoe and this new version is launched as part of the new FOM x Kolisi Zwide range, a collection introduced to help fund a sports infrastructure project for the youth in Siya’s home town of Zwide in the Eastern Cape, South Africa.
Following the success of the first FOM x Kolisi collaboration to build the Mbekweni field from proceeds of the field green FOM x Kolisi VELLIE, we decided to bring something different and even more unique to our customers. As part of the Zwide collection, the black Vellie launch will be followed by two black limited edition bags and a workwear jacket. This is a very personal campaign for Siya and us as Zwide is the very town where Siya’s inspirational story was born.
Our hope is that South Africans will be as inspired and captivated by this campaign and Siya’s story as we are. As a brand, we are excited to take hands with our customers, Siya Kolisi, the Kolisi Foundation and the Millennium Trust to make a difference in a special community. Making this shoe really means a lot to us and we feel privileged to play a small part in Siya’s remarkable story

Freedom of Movement was founded in 2013 by brothers who had a passion for design and entrepreneurship, as well as a dream to create a proudly South African lifestyle brand.
Growing up in a house of 4 boys, all very sociable and absolutely crazy about sport, our parents had their hands full more often than not. To maintain some form of order our Dad introduced a house rule called ‘Freedom of Movement’. ‘Freedom of Movement’ had to be earned through hard work and personal discipline.
So, if your academic performance at school was satisfactory, you would have earned ‘Freedom of Movement’ meaning that you have proven that you are capable of making your own decisions, and able to take responsibility for your own actions. This laid the foundation for our boys to understand the importance of managing our own priorities. In 2013, after having qualified as a civil engineer and chartered accountant respectively, we finally felt like we have earned the Freedom to make our own moves.
HOW IT STARTED
At the outset, our vision was to create a proudly South African lifestyle brand that was founded on the core principles of quality, longevity, value and worth. We saw leather as the one raw material that epitomised all four of these principles and it was therefore a natural starting point for us to form the core of our aspiring brand. Leather is known for its quintessential robust and timeless appeal, and nothing quite tells a story like a well-worn leather bag.
As such, we launched the business in 2013 out of a small room at the University of Stellenbosch, with one leather craftsman called Benjamin and one very old traditional leather-stitching machine. After a few months of prototyping and hard work, we had developed two products that we could take to market. The Benjamin, a traditional leather briefcase, and The Bobby, a full leather adventure backpack were born.
We have since continued to improve and grow our product offering that now includes a wide range of premium lifestyle companions. All our core products have unique names and identities, as we want our customers to personally connect with their chosen companions that share in their own lifestyle and adventures.
OUR VISION
We aspire to create a globally recognised, proudly South African lifestyle brand,
with the aim of inspiring others along the way to create their own destiny and live
their lives with true FREEDOM OF MOVEMENT: the Freedom to Dream | the
Freedom to Explore | the Freedom to Create.
Majority of our products are meticulously crafted in South Africa with the aim to grow our Brand, and, with this directly as well as indirectly play our part in boost-
ing the local economy through job creation.

Johannesburg South Africa – For Heritage month G-Star RAW will be celebrating the creative expression of Rap and Hip-Hop in South Africa, by featuring local artists Shane Eagle, Moozlie, YoungstaCPT and Courtnaé Paul in its premium Exclusives by G-Star RAW collection.
The artists are a perfect fit to the brand’s “Hardcore Denim” philosophy. Each is an expressive independent, pushing boundaries in the music industry. Last week the denim brand announced its worldwide ‘Hardcore Denim’ campaign with icon Snoop Dogg, helmed by a custom-made version of Snoop’s soundtrack single ‘Say it Witcha Booty’. Just like Snoop the South Africa artists continually reinvent themselves and merge worlds in unexpected ways.
Snoop has heavily impacted these South African artists. YoungstaCPT commented “Snoop Dogg had a global impact on Hip Hop culture because he was so different. While everyone was hardcore in their delivery and shouting to get the point across, Snoop said the same thing, but smoother, so it set him apart. His style and charisma also made him impossible to ignore.”
The global Rap icon was also an early inspiration for Shane Eagle who added: “I was born in ’96 when Snoop was moulding the future of Hip Hop for kids like me to grow into and to be inspired by till this day. For me, it was more of the ideology of how to come into the rap game, the need to rep who you are and where you’re from, so your growth can be tracked from that introduction. This is something you will see in my early work.”
Moozlie, who got to interview Snoop back when he was Snoop Lion, says he was easily one of the most famous, but coolest people she’d ever met.
While Courtnaé Paul stated, “Not only has Snoop helped shape the culture that my life revolves around, but he has also done everything from DJ’ing to making cocktails and that’s the kind of person I am. Living life authentically, to the fullest with no boundaries.”
G-Star RAW teamed up with award-winning, contemporary, multimedia visual artist, Trevor Stuurman for creative direction and photography of these artists. The artists are showcased wearing the Exclusives by G-Star RAW collection across multiple platforms including broadcast partners Yfm, Trace Urban and Trace Africa.
Designed with limitless creativity to exceed standards, Exclusives by G-Star RAW brings reinvention and innovation to every stitch, seam, and rivet.
Timeless icons for men and women, spliced with the unique DNA of the G-Star RAW brand. The collection will go in store in South African for the first time in 2022, while limited edition items are now available online.
G-Star RAW – dedicated to the cloth, the craft, the culture and the history of denim.
